Grinding your skis / Ski grinding
When bringing in your skis or snowboard to our ski service workshop, you can choose from a number of different grindings: bronze, silver and gold grindings, as well as a race grind for race skis and similar. Bronze, silver and gold grinding is performed in the same way regardless of the original appearance of the skis or snowboard - in other words, the result varies depending on the original condition of the equipment.
Bronze grind
The bronze grind is for those who just need a slight refresh of their equipment. In this package, we plane-grind the surface once on stone and once on the edge, and then put the skis on the ski wax machine. The bronze grind is done entirely mechanically in our grinding machines.
Silver grinding
The silver grind is more thorough and ideal for those whose equipment has minor scratches, loose edges or poor grip. Here, we plane-sand the surface five times on stone and three times on the edge, and then put the skis on the ski wax machine. The silver grind is done entirely mechanically in our grinding machines.
Gold grind
The gold grind is for those whose equipment has more surface damage. With a gold grind, we start by repairing damage to the surface before plane-sanding the surface five times on stone and three times on the edge, as well as putting the skis on the ski wax machine. The gold grind involves significantly more manual work than the bronze and silver grinds.
Race grind
The race grind is specially designed for race skis and includes several different settings on the grinding robot and three different grinds:
- We start by plane-grinding the skis. The number of grinds required depends entirely on the condition of the skis.
- After that, we reset the skis, i.e. we make then completely smooth before the third grind.
- Finally, we add structure, hang the edges and grind the outer edge at the angle you want.
For our race skis, there is a discount rate based on the number of pairs of skis you send in for grinding.
