Together we can make a difference
Part of our sustainability work is to make it easier for you as a guest to make more sustainable choices, so that together we take care of our unique nature for future guests and residents.
Leave nothing but ski tracks - here are some simple but effective tips on how you can contribute to a living mountain environment.
7 tips for a more sustainable holiday
1. Travel by public transport or carpool
51% of the total emissions associated with a mountain holiday come from the journey there and back. This means that you, as a guest, have a great opportunity to make a difference just by your choice of transport.
Today, most people travel by car to and from our destinations. Carpooling is therefore a way to reduce the climate impact of your travel.
2. Leave your car at the cabin during your stay
When you visit us, you can leave your car at your holiday home or hotel. A large part of our accommodation has ski in, ski out and bike in, bike out.
In winter, ski buses take you around the mountain or down to the centre for free if you have a SkiPass. In summer, of course, it's the bike that counts. If you are going on a longer journey, a good tip is to hire an electric bike.
Did you know that...
Our ski buses are powered by the renewable fuel HVO100, which has less climate footprint than diesel or gasoline. Read more about our use of renewable fuels.
3. Bring good habits from home
Bed linen and towels don't need to be washed every day and not all the lights need to be on when you're not in the room. Most of us are very good at saving electricity at home, but on holiday it can easily get a bit sloppy. Water and electricity are resources that we need to use with care and respect. Think of your holiday accommodation as your own home.
4. Leave no trace behind
Unfortunately, even on holiday you need to clean up after yourself, sort and recycle your rubbish. This is to save natural resources and of course not litter. After all, we want many generations after us to experience all the wonderful things that we experience.
5. Take care of nature - learn from Valle
Spending time in the mountains is fantastic - a unique environment that we should take care of. Together we can help to keep it that way. Learn from Valle and be environmentally friendly >>
Remember to treat animals, nature and snowmen with respect.
6. Honour the right of public access - show consideration
The right of public access, which exists in Sweden and Norway, is a unique right to spend time in nature. Thanks to the right of public access, we can move freely and pick both berries and mushrooms.
You can read more about the right of public access at;
As with many rights, there is also an obligation, as the right of public access only works if we work together to take responsibility and show consideration for animals, nature, landowners and fellow human beings. Stick to marked paths and trails to avoid unnecessary wear and tear on nature.
7. Take the help of a guide
Want to get out into nature, try something new, but not sure how to go about it? Maybe you want to try skiing, rafting or cycling? Book a guide! >>
At our destinations, there are plenty of guided activities and lessons available all year round. You can rest assured that your safety is taken care of, while getting the best experience and local knowledge from real professionals.
