Goal and Vision
SkiStar's goal and vision is to promote an active lifestyle while halving our climate impact. Our sustainability efforts can be split into three focus ares: getting more people moving, reducing our climate footprint and allowing our communities to grow.
By 2030, our mountain operations will be completely climate neutral and we will have reduced our total emissions by at least 50% compared to 2020/21. This means:
- Halved climate impact from our guests' and employees' trips to our destinations.
- Suppliers accounting for 66.1 per cent of emissions to have climate targets by 2027/28.
- Net zero climate footprint from our operations.
- Increased share of self-produced energy.
- Reduce emissions from fuel and energy-related activities and waste by 25%.
- Take into account and promote biodiversity in all projects.
Our climate goals include both direct and indirect emissions. Direct emissions are those that come directly from our operations, such as our lifts and piste machines. Indirect emissions are those from our suppliers and guests.
Our climate targets are approved by SBTi*.
SBTi - Science Based Targets Initiative was founded in 2015 by the UN Global Compact, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the World Wildlife Fund (WRI) and the CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) and is a globally recognised organisation that supports companies to set scientifically based goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
a wide range of sustainability measures
Our sustainability measures also span activation and recreation, ecosystems and impact, employees and culture and many other areas. Read more about these at SkiStar Corporate.
