Trollskogen

Trollskogen, The Troll Forest, in Hundfjället is the perfect destination for the whole family. Here, the trolls play and sing every day.

Valle's Troll Tales in Sälen

For the winter 24/25, Trollskogen in Hundfjället offers plenty of thrilling troll tales for the whole family. Valle's Troll Tales brings to life our most beloved trolls in the Troll Forest.

Let the family be captivated by exciting and funny stories from the world of the trolls while you ski from the troll Åke Skidor and down to Valle's shed. Ski the Trollskogen slope (14) and scan the QR codes along the way to listen to the tales of the Tooth Troll, Wild Hasse, the Troll Olympics and many, many more.

Listen to Valle's Troll Tales

To make Valle's Troll Tales available to everyone, no matter where you are, they can be listened to on mobile and tablet (not via computer). One of Valle's personal favourites is the tale Orvar and Svea.

Open the Troll Forest

From winter 24/25 onwards you will be able to take a brand-new button lift up to the restaurant Lyktan and from there you can easily ski down to Trollskogen. There are barbecue areas at the top and bottom of Trollskogen.

A fun experience for the whole family

The Troll Forest is best experienced together with the whole family and a backpack filled with food and coffee. The loop in the forest is an easier ski slope that even small skiers can handle and enjoy. Trollskogen is made up of several different parts - Discover Trollskogen, Tandtrollskogen, Trollens fäbod, the vehicle park, the children's sculpture park and the nature houses.

Troll carpenter Alf Skaneby

Chainsaw sculptor and troll carver Alf Skaneby is the artist behind the majority of the 800+ trolls that exist in Trollskogen. The Troll Forest came to life in 1998 when Alf carved the first trolls out of wood in a natural ravine in the lower parts of the Hundfjället ski area.

From 1998 onwards, Alf spent decades carving trolls and maintaining their home, school and church in Trollskogen in Hundfjället, Sweden. Many of the trolls are based on friends and acquaintances of Alf.

When he first started carving trolls, he never imagined how popular they would become. Today, more than 700,000 visitors explore the winding paths that criss-cross the 1.5-kilometer-long forest area every year. The magical world enchants everyone with its specially recorded troll sounds, twinkling lights, troll roars, wizard school and much, much more.
