Gems in Hemsedal
Hemsedal is rich in secret places and gems, both high and low, that not everyone knows of. Our destination experts have made a list of their top tips to make your ski holiday anything but ordinary.
Sunrises like no other
In Hemsedal, you can ski down three beautiful summits. The highest summit is Totten, which stands at 1,450 metres above sea level. The lift will take you almost all the way to the top, where you can enjoy stunning views of Hemsedal and all the surrounding mountains. If you're up at the crack of dawn, you’ll get a front-row seat of the incredibly beautiful sunset from the summit - we guarantee it’ll be a memory for life. When you're at the top, you’ll quickly understand why Hemsedal is often described as the "Scandinavian Alps".
Kilometres of skiing
When you're at the top of Totten 2 and want to head down, you’ll have kilometres and kilometres of fantastic skiing ahead of you. Take slope 27 down to Totten 2 and then over to Sentrumsløypa (slope 49) all the way down to Hemsedal town centre. A fantastic ski experience over beautiful mountain terrain that offers both joy and sore leg muscles. Stop along the ride down and enjoy the amazing scenery. Once in the city centre, you can enjoy a cup of hot chocolate or coffee, or even a little lunch at one of the restaurants. Once you’re back at the ski area, it's easy to get yourself back up the slope using either the Totteskog lift or the ski bus.
Challenging off-piste
For any experienced and skilled skiers who aren’t strangers to off-piste skiing, we highly recommend off-piste in Hemsedal. Book a half-day with our skilled guides, who will take you to the best off-piste skiing around Hemsedal Ski Centre. We’ll ride through the best and most challenging terrain - through small forests, over bare mountains and steep slopes.

Fun for the whole family
No matter if you’re young or old, you’ll love the SkiStar Fun Ride (slope 32). Here the whole family can try out exciting jumps, velodrome corners and other fun things. During evening skiing, the Fun Ride comes to life with lots of colourful lights to set the atmosphere.
Ski or board on untouched terrain
