One of the world's fastest growing sports
Padel doesn't require any technical knowledge and is very friendly for beginners. It isn't as fast paced as tennis and the courts are framed in tempered glass. This often creates a better experience as the ball doesn't travel as far.
What makes padel so popular is its simplicity. Getting into the basics is quick and it's great fun. Many people are enthusiastic about padel in Hemsedal, including brand new players, so this is a very cool summer activity in Hemsedal.
Simple rules and recommendations in padel
There aren't that many rules to familiarize yourself with if it's just a game for fun. Simple ground rules are nice to know in order to have a small overview of the most important things.
Serve
Serving in padel is simple. Bounce the ball once and hit with your forearm at or below the hip. The serve should go diagonally and hit the court on the opposite side, like in tennis. You have two attempts.
Walls
You can hit the ball into your own wall as long as it then hits the ground on the opposite side. The ball can also bounce on your side and in the wall before you hit it over the net.
Points : Game – Set – Match
As in tennis, points are played with 0/15/30/40/Game. When the ball bounces twice in the opponent's half, your team gets points. If your team wins 5 balls/point, you win one game. The first team to 6 games wins the set. The match is finished when one team has won 2 sets in a best of 3 format. As in tennis and volleyball, you have to win by 2 points, and this applies to both Game and Set.
Equipment
The racket is specific to padel and can be rented or bought. The ball is smaller than a tennis ball and can be bought, otherwise a tennis ball also works for those who just play for fun. Shoes should have good grip and stable ankles to avoid injuries.
