Houdini uses synthetic insulation, not only to improve performance, but also because we don't think birds should suffer for us to be comfortable. PrimaLoft Rise has a down-like heat-to-weight ratio and a wonderfully soft feel. This insulating material really does come its way in humid conditions. PrimaLoft Gold retains almost all heat because it does not get wet even in wet weather.
